India reported 6,987, New Delhi COvid-19 Cases & 162 Deaths, Omicron Cases Rise to 422

On the way back to normally amid the Covid-19 Pandemic, omicron, a new variant of the virus has become the cause of concern from Several countries in the world. Is India prepared to tackle the new challenge?

   India also reported a total of 162 deaths on Sunday. The number of active cases on Sunday is 76,766. Meanwhile, India’s omicron cases have increased to 422 as per the MOHFW, of those the number of people who have recovered is 130.

The total number of vaccinated people in India on 26 December 2021 (Sunday) had reached 141.37 Crore.

Covid-19 vaccines for children 15 to 18 years are now available from 3 January.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Sunday 25 December and announced that children aged 15 to 18 can now avail of the Covid-19 Vaccine beginning 3rd January. Additionally, people age 60 and above will also be eligible for a booster dose, on their doctor’s advice starting from 10th January.

Further, he announced that healthcare and frontline workers would be able to avail the booster dose of the vaccine from 10th January.
